Champion (or Deployment Champion) is a person who is responsible for deployment of Lean Six Sigma initiative within the company. Their primary objective is to remove roadblocks for the project team. For this they need to be well versed with the business goals, be able to select strategically aligned projects, build consensus across various hierarchical levels and act as an arbitrator between senior management and project team (for removing the roadblocks).
Sponsor - is a senior person in the organization who authorizes and allocates resources and funds for a business excellence project. He should possess high influence in the business unit and should be in a position to approve the financials / costs for projects and initiatives.
