  4. Hi Vishwanathan, Aayush has provided a good explanation on 6 sigma instead of 4.5 Sigma. Zst = 1.5 + Zlt st=short term lt=long term As across subgroup variation is high, the performance over a long period of time Is poorer as compared to short term. For approximate estimation of short term performance, 1.5 is added to the long term Sigma level.
  5. I completely agree with Aauysh. Six Sigma basically deals with the above three pointers, and any process improvement area can be a good source of six sigma project. As processes are common in any organisation . We can find good source of six sigma projects across various industry domains.
  6. If in a six sigma project, distribution of data is not normal, what should be the goals of a six sigma professional ? how shall one proceed in this case ?

But while Six Sigma applies to processes, systems, and output quality, this approach looks at the quality of the employee-customer encounter, weaving together a consistent method for assessing it and a disciplined process for managing and improving it.   13. Distinction between necessary and sufficient conditions can be quite helpful in finding the root cause.:- For Example : - Necessary : Having four sides is necessary for being a square. Being rich is not necessary for being happy since a poor person can be happy too. Sufficient : Being a square is sufficient for having four sides. Loyalty is not sufficient for honesty because one might have to lie in order to protect the person one is loyal to.

Theory of growth mind set explains that ability to learn for an individual is not fixed and can change with efforts , It changes with respect to challenges one faces, once they fail , they will work more and harder because they know failure is not going to be permanent. A Growth Mindset means a child will be open to challenge and welcome feedback, whereas a Fixed Mindset gives them a view that nothing will change their "fixed" intelligence. One needs to be greedy all the time to strive for the best. !

Imagine we’re in recession and many organizations are looking at how to win more business and increase revenue. - However; what about reducing what goes out as waste? - Can’t it be just as beneficial as increasing what comes in? That’s why a lot of companies are now implementing Lean and Six Sigma management systems, and providing Lean Six Sigma training for their staff to tackle these situations.

  25. Quite insightful ! Indeed same concept has been used in email marketing . In many web portals , "opt-in" generally refers to a chec/tick box which, if filled in by the user, indicates that they would like to be contacted by a particular form of communication. Unless the user ticks the box then the organisation cannot use their details or contact them. In contrast an "opt-out", where the default position is that the user will be contacted by that form of marketing, unless they untick the box to indicate that they would prefer not to be. Generally Opt-out can give advantage to a company , as it would require no further action by the recipient , and on an average , company can sent out more number of mails. But on the other side Opt-In will help company in reaching out to only targeted audience and thus higher conversion rate . So choice entirely depends on company's strategy .
