  1. Kaizen: Is a continuous improvement, step by step, incremental changes. Example:- Roads in India: The roads in India are slowly improving, This we can say as Kaizen Kaikaku: Is more of an upgradation kind of improvement or change Example:- Demonetisation in India. The old notes are taken away ( in 3months) & new ones are parallel introduced Kakushin: Is more a re-engineering. The system is rethought or redone. These three are complementing only in the angle of change as the change is common in all the three ‘K’s, Whereas according to my understanding they are different. Kaizen is slow & incremental, By Kakushin is immediate or full change at once. Kaikaku is a kind of upgradation. Kaikaku is like mean between Kaizen & Kakushin. The company loses the very important thing “Change” when these concepts are not used. Change is a must for every company.
  2. CTQ and Matric: CTQ is a factor that is supposed to be critical to achieve the required quality, where as Matric is connected with measurements. Measurement is not essential for a good management. Bcz, a good management is nothing to do with only measurement. There are a lot of things we cannot measure, for example motivation cannot be measured whereas it is one of the important catalyst for successful business. It is right approach, right intentions, empowerment are some of the important areas to be considered for a good management. what Dr. Edward meant I believe is that, not everything in life can be measured and business is not different from life. Hence it is not fully true that everything that cannot be measured cannot be managed. Actually, a good management can still be made exist with out measurement. Measurement is a mere not a high level compared to human intentions, Good team work, and so on.
  3. Root cause analysis: It is typically a very effective technique to identify the root causes for a problem or an issue. This technique uses the approach of right questioning such as WHYs. In order to do this analysis, it is also important to clearly identify the problems or issues for which we are going to identify the root causes. considering 4 possibilities: (as per the question) Example; Problem: campus placement did not happen, 1. A College could be the cause, but this is not sufficient. It can also be that the job market is also not good for being placed. 2. College could be sufficient cause, but not necessary. If the student would have put right efforts, he would have been still placed. 3. College may not be the reason at all, it could be the market and insufficient efforts by the students could be the main cause for no placement 4. The college could be the main cause as it doesn't call any companies to come for campus placements. In such cases and scenarios, Root cause analysis helps to find the right cause.
  4. Business Excellence 4 Sept 2017.docx Define, Compare and contrast Personal Excellence, Process Excellence, Operational Excellence & Business Excellence. Personal Excellence: - Is a state of an individual or any person in which the individual or a person inherits an excellent or highest level of ability to be fully aware and to be fully able to rightly work upon one’s own strengths and weaknesses. This is a state that a person or an individual has reached upon experiencing the higher degree of self-evaluation & at which the person or an individual can guide other person or persons to make them be able to reach the state of excellence. Process Excellence:- Is a control of any process in order to be able to course with higher degree of efficiency & effectiveness. This is a state at which the process could deliver exactly the right required output. Operational Excellence:- Is a state of operations in which the operations are running exactly as per the expectations of the Business by having the excellent processes in place with excellent team working on Operations Business Excellence:- Is a state in which the Business has reached to a level where it becomes remarkably successful in achieving the set vision and by fulfilling all the expectations from the trail of the business in parallel. This is the state in which a business itself becomes the way of life. Business Excellence is more of a macro level where it is very important that it surpasses the states of Personal Excellence, Process Excellence & Operational Excellence. It is not so easy to achieve the Business Excellence unless an individual, process & operations are contributing towards the whole of the agenda. Personal Excellence is more of a micro level & is very important as without this it is very hard to achieve any further steps/state of excellence either in Process, Operations or in Business. Process excellence is directly contributing to Operations & further to Business to achieve higher degree of excellence. Operation Excellence follows Personal & Process excellence. It is highly impossible to achieve Business excellence state without being excellent as a person or an individual contributing to the Business, without having an excellent process & operations. Business excellence is the final result of Personal, Process & Operational excellence. An Organization must make sure that it empowers every individual to be able to involve to the fullest extent possible. It is an individual who can actual make a big difference in the whole of the Business. According to me it is finally the individual who can design & lead the right process, who can identify the right tools and techniques in order to perform to a level of excellence. Finally it is an individual who can bring the business as the way of life as the life in the business is finally the individual itself, despite the business is fully correlated to customer or market in its business sense.
