January 30, 200917 yr Companies in telecom sector like Bharti Telecom, Siemens, France Telecom have been reaping benefits from Six Sigma concepts for quite some time now. Bharti has been using Six Sigma DFSS and DMAIC roadmaps. We have been training people from all these three companies and also some from Vodafone. HR, Finance, BPO and IT divisions/ departments of telecom companies use Six Sigma in very much similar fashion as in other industries. Telecom specific applications include. 1. Development of new features, processes for new services 2. Improving accuracy, timeliness and completeness of customer communication. 3. Improving accuracy, timeliness and completeness of new connections. 4. Improving up-time and quality of services. 5. Reducing response times for complaints, improving customer experience.
June 24, 200916 yr Adding to what Vishwadeep has said, some more Telecom company specific areas where Six Sigma has been successfully implemented are:1. Reducing the Billing Errors, Timeliness of Billing.2. Improving the Call Completion Ratio, which is a result of Network Quality. This has a direct impact on revenue (this was incidentally my First Black Belt Project).3. Timeliness and Quality of New Schemes that are launched from time to time5. Improving ARPU (Average revenue per unit)6. Reducing Customer Churn7. Improving Sales Productivity
September 24, 200916 yr Sir I want to know what exactly Sigma stands for what. For example: S=Smart, I=? like thisplease rply me sir
February 3, 201016 yr Dear Faim Uddin Allow me to clarify that Six Sigma is not an acronym or Abbreviation. It is a collection of analytical techniques and methodologies that can be applied to any industry from manufacturing and Telecom to Media and Hospitality. As mentioned by VK, Six Sigma techniques are being used by foreign telecom players since long (in fact, it was first pioneered by Motorola) and of late, is being used by Indian Telecom players like Bharti and BSNL. If you talk about acronyms, one very famous method of Six Sigma application is the DMAIC method. It stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. Kindly revert for further clarifications or click here to know more. Regards AbhishekM

May 31, 201016 yr Mr Mishra is right. To understand Six Sigma, you should study the companies that have implemented them. There are lots of such companies in India too. Bharti Enterprises is a shining example of Six Sigma actually. Not only have the orchestrated a flawless business, they have even been one of th biggest innovators of the century.Bharti Enterprises got about the telecom revolution in India. Think of those Bharti telephone boxes we saw inour homes in the 70's-80's and then the beetel phones. STD calls, followed by the mobile phone revolution. All of this has been Bharti's innovation in India. Bharti has even won an Innovation for India award from Marico Innovation foundation for this! I just found a picture of this too, check it out - http://picasaweb.google.com/innovationfoundation.india/MaricoInnovationFoundationSInnovationForIndiaAwards2010#5472877703046502674
