Hi- don't overwhelm yourself with word six sigma. In current scenario "Process improvement" is better term to keep it simple. Whatever knowledge and experience I have, i can easily say that most of the projects we take are half done by the time we draw our process flow diagram and do basic analysis like fishbone etc. So just take out some time every month to read your process and you will yourself get the ideas to improve the process you are in.

Though people will not acknowledge it till the time its not in form of good ppt and business lingo but who cares.....

 

I agree with Gaurav. We do not need to use the term Six Sigma in a company which is not exposed to the philosophy well. We have a good number of participants who have been using various Six Sigma techniques in process improvement initiatives but wisely avoid the terminology till some initial good assignments are completed.

Six Sigma techniques are so powerful that each one if applied well has potential of bringing big benefits. However, in companies where senior management is driving Six Sigma, the scenario is different.

In BFSI sector virtually we can use each and every tool of six sigma and we had enough freedom to try out any new possibilty that can be beneficial to BFSI sector .

its fun to play with numbers right from survey framework design to result analysis , to optimise the process , automate and simulate , forecasting numbers with +- 10% accuracy ,Implementation of Lean is the most which i enjoyed the most........

In Reconsillation process we are trying to acchieve a theortical value of a linear model for the spent incurred by the business unit against the Profit they made,So we are target Y is the profit and X as all the posssible factors ie Manpower , Overheads ,

other fixed cost and expediture , so we will get an equation in form of regression then tweak / simulate factors accordingly to get the maximum profit and implement the results .....

Similarly To find out a suitable eligibilty criteria for a person who had applied for a credit card sixsigma can do wonder in the process i.e Multi vary analysis

I can see that there are not many jobs advertised recently. Although there are some for mortgage, insurance, banking (HDFC) on naukri.com in last one month. Please keep in mind the following.

• Problem Solving, Decision Making, Process Improvement Skills never go waste and certainly help in most of the responsible positions.
  
• Black Belts have more openings as compared to Green Belts, especially if a project is not done.
  
• There are ample positions in this sector. We referred candidates for 10 openings in ICICI bank recently and openings were filled.
