To start with Six Sigma, you must know that Six Sigma has different levels of training i.e. Green Belt, Black Belt, Master Black Belt.

Green Belt Training is the first level of training and suitable for freshers with engineering and management background or both.

 

Since you have the most suitable qualification, you must go for Green Belt Training as a fresher and then you can upgrade yourself to Black Belt.

   I am Gaurav Shede and i have done B.E in EXTC. Right now i am in Second Year of MBA in Operations. I have successfully cleared the BSCM module of APICS also i am a fresher. So would it be ideal for me to Si Sigma Green Belt right now or should i gain some work ex and then go for it.

We nowadays even have graduate students going for SS GB training & certification (by examination) program (I personally know quite a few) with little (if pursuing graduation by correspondence & working simultaneously) or almost nil work experience (those who attend regular college). Well, they may be having their own reasons for doing so.

 

As Per your question, you may certainly go for GB training & examination leading to GB certification pending GB project completion which would make you GB project certified. The GB training & examination will give you the essential knowledge & skills needed for understanding & application of SS tools for solving chronic problems with no known root causes, which would make you competent enough to proceed further in the SS domain. If one happens to be working & also does GB training & completes the examination simultaneously, then one has a better chance of being able to work on a real time SS GB project, further leading to a GB project certification on its successful completion, as compared to a student (like you) or one who is not working.

 

However, since you've mentioned yourself to be in the second year of your MBA course, it would be apt if you choose to do your GB training & certification (based on examination) as well along with it, as it would certainly be a value addition to your CV on the professional front (a kind of practical qualification) even before you start working. Moreover, while appearing for a job interview, you may be given preference over other contenders (provided you fit the job requirement) given your SS advantage, as your employer wouldn't have to spend on your GB training separately, if chosen to work on a GB project. Also, once you get a job you certainly will have an upper hand over your other peers (who may not be SS trained) given your SS qualification in course of your profile being considered for working on a prospective SS project.

 

Also, without me mentioning, in course of your MBA program, if your internship program is still pending, then being armed with a GB qualification (GB training & examination doesn't take more than a week) will certainly be to your advantage as you may be fortunate enough to put your SS learnings into practice if you are able to identify the scope for application of SS GB tools therein (internship project) also making it a SS GB project, thereby. Thus, you might be able to score a double whammy (MBA qualification & SS GB project certification) here, even before you actually start working. This also puts you in a better position to negotiate for a higher pay while joining a company/organisation for work.
