Tanmoy, projects are nothing that any one can do in a day's time, they require teams and months. All you have to do is to find a concern area and work on it. And the enrollment is no waste, the program will teach you ways to identify problem areas and means to tackle them. Just be there. Things will work out fine as they did for me.

Determine on the management style of the leadership. Find the focus area i.e. Cost cutting Process excellence etc.. Use these to your benefit to grab attention.

Dear friend, First and foremost no one will give you projects in the early stage..it's you who has to come up with ideas. Start with Kaizens (small improvements to create big impact). Monitor the benefits and quantitatively and present them. And then when you have their attention present your ideas of improvement and demand projects. Good luck.

Organizations like Wal-Mart, Ikea, HSBC are keenly participating in the development of their vendors by means of training and operational support. They get their supplies customized as per their needs both in terms of time and quality. Going a step forward Wal-Mart went a step forward in getting the operations of its vendors standardized and even certified. An example for the same is that the fresh meet stock sold in Easyday Stores(a J.V. of Wal-Mart and Bharti for Indian markets) comes from vendors who comply with food safety standards. They could not have introduced this category or would have maintained the standards themselves if the vendors would have provided the stock in the old fashion… the organizations trained and got their vendors certified to introduce this category which was previously untouched by so called organized retail.
