November 13, 201312 yr I have enrolled myself for the six sigma green belt certification. I have been working in BPO sector as an agent for 3 yrs and out of which I have 1 yr exp as a Quality Analyst ( however, left the job as a QA). At present, I am working in a BPO in Kolkata. I have accumulated my savings and have enrolled for the GB which would happen in Kolkata in the month of Feb'14. I wanted to move up the ladder to the top and wanted to grow in this industry, so have enrolled for the course. I cannot continue any further being an agent and being into calling profile. I have spoken to many of my friends about the course and so have been motivated as well as de-motivated. I wanted to know if this course would give me enough exposure in getting better jobs with good salary ???? what is the demand for LSSGB in the market ?

November 17, 201312 yr Author Hi Sir, Thanks for the reply. But the problem is I work in a BPO as a Calling agent, will I still be able to grow ?. I have heard that generally these courses are done by the managing dept of the organization and not a calling agent. How will this course help me to grow? Would be grateful if you can throw some lights on it.

November 20, 201312 yr Team leaders benefit more by doing this program. For a caller, this program can help show the interest and aptitude in Management. It can help in initiating small improvements. You shall be able to bring bigger process changes only when you are allowed to. You may be allowed to work on bigger changes, if you have the potential and are able to present the aptitude well.
November 22, 201312 yr Author Thanks for the responses I have spoken to the Managers in my company and asked them if after doing this course I would have a raise. They smiled at me and said that until and unless I do any live projects, I do not have any value..so when I asked if I can be offered any projects, they again smiled at me. I understood that I won't get any assistance from the company. I am really tensed about how and where to get a live project and to complete it. I have an experience of more than 3 years as a caller and when I am trying to grow, I am not getting assistance. Hopefully, after the completion of the course, I need to look for a concern to do a project and a company to give me a raise !!
November 22, 201312 yr Dear friend, First and foremost no one will give you projects in the early stage..it's you who has to come up with ideas. Start with Kaizens (small improvements to create big impact). Monitor the benefits and quantitatively and present them. And then when you have their attention present your ideas of improvement and demand projects. Good luck.
November 22, 201312 yr Determine on the management style of the leadership. Find the focus area i.e. Cost cutting Process excellence etc.. Use these to your benefit to grab attention.
November 24, 201312 yr Author Thank you so much for the reply. But this seems to be tough, at least from the post I am in, it would have been easier if I would have been in some Managerial post. However, I am just an agent here, taking calls and nothing can be changed from my position. It seems Green Belt is not for me, I enrolled this thinking that this would give me a better job and as I was informed initially by the person whom I payed the money for enrolling me. Now the amount that I paid won't be refunded. so my savings are gone.
November 26, 201312 yr Tanmoy, projects are nothing that any one can do in a day's time, they require teams and months. All you have to do is to find a concern area and work on it.And the enrollment is no waste, the program will teach you ways to identify problem areas and means to tackle them.Just be there. Things will work out fine as they did for me.
November 27, 201312 yr Author Well, thanks everyone for the reply. I understand what all of you are saying. But the problem is, I work in a company where I have to take calls ( being a call center ), from where it is not possible to find the focus area and grab attention. As it is a normal psychology, that managers or Team Leaders ( higher officials ) do not listen to their agents or callers in managerial stuff. So this seems to be tough and almost impossible. However, since I have already spend a huge amount enrolling on the course, I have to complete it. But, it seems to be of no help from my position. This seems to have immense importance when someone is in the managerial post. I hope now you understand my concern !!!
December 3, 201312 yr Tanmoy, How did team leaders or managers reach those positions? Many of them have been callers initially. I know several people who have risen from callers to the position of AVP. No one gets to a managerial position unless someone notices his aptitude. Aptitude shall not be noticed unless one thinks, communicates and works differently. Developing and demonstrating managerial aptitude requires some hard work. If learning and demonstrating managerial aptitude does not seem to help very soon, will not having it help at any time? It requires perseverance, patience, dedication and hard work to get to some hard goals. You have already taken the first step.
