  2. Marketing with a "Mafia Offer" In today’s fast-paced world, most organizations play tag with their competitors. someone lowers the fee, others observe. someone adds an incremental new feature or carrier, the others play catch-up. from side to side, from side to side - the sport never ends… What if there has been some different way? What if you can boom the cost of your product or service a lot that customers can infrequently refuse your offer? This kind of maneuver is known in TOC circles as a “Mafia offer” What is a "Mafia Offer?" A Mafia offer may be offered correctly to 70% or extra of all prospective customers and generally commands premium pricing. are you able to believe remaining 70% of all clients who check out your products or services? it may sound farfetched, however with a Mafia offer 70% is best just the start! The basic economics tells us that marketplace fee is a feature of deliver and call for. believe that the call for on your product abruptly surges. because of this you can sell at a higher price and still make more sales, truly because your object is well worth far extra to the patron. In other words, any buyer would should be out of her mind to shop for the product from all of us except you. How is it different from the term USP (Unique Selling Proposition)? when most of the people are talking approximately a touchstone, a aggressive gain, a price proposition, or a unique selling proposition (USP) these are actually quite different from a Mafia Offer. They essentially take what you already do and country it succinctly and with extra specificity. A Mafia offer commonly requires which you do something specific to sincerely deliver some thing unrefusable for your clients and something that your competition can’t or won’t do due to the fact they are now not willing to do or don’t know the way to make the change. in this way, Mafia offer is a longer lasting aggressive benefit as instead of only a positioning.
  3. Shainin Design of Experiments Shainin Design of experiments methodology was developed by the Dorian Shainin. Shainin DOE techniques are primarily known to produce continuous improvement by very effective solving the chronic quality problems and process optimization in manufacturer industries. Shainin techniques are highly effective in pinpointing root cause and validating it. Statistical software like Minitab etc.. is not required to analyze the data. In fact, Shainin DoE tool does not even require any knowledge in difficult statistical tool. It involves very simple operations like counts, additions, subtractions, etc. The Shainin DOE techniques success of the Six Sigma project using Shainin method could lead to a very positive impact on the morale of the engineer and employees in terms of convincing them to Six Sigma can be implemented very easily without any knowledge in complex statistics. 1. Shainin DOE tools are very simple and to understand by both the engineers and shop floor workers. 2. Semi-skilled workers to understand and handle Shainin DoE tools very easily in manufacturing firms. 3. Shainin DOE ensures continuous improvement in manufacturing industries. Comparison of Classical, Taguchi, and Shainin DOE Techniques There is a risk in that, if multiple failure modes contribute/involve to a problem, and hence outcome / result in different dominant causes for each mode. It is also very important to select appropriate DoE tool for dealing with different situations as there is a need to identify the suitable DoE tool that could be used to increase the predictability and consistency in Process and Product Quality improvement. It is also useful and advisable to evaluate the Shainin DoE techniques for maintaining Six sigma level in Product and Process Quality in the selected manufacturing companies.
  4. CATWOE The CATWOE checklist is a one of the most robust problem-solving method that analyzes the larger view of the business to help professionals make decisions and define strategies. CATWOE stands for: C - Customer: Who are they / How the issue affect them? A - Actor: Who is involved in the situation? Who is involved in the implementing solutions? what will impact their success? T - Transformation: What processes or system are affected by the issue? W - Weltanschauung: What is the big picture? What are the big impacts of the issue? O - Owner: Who owns the process / situations you are investigating and what role will they play in the solutions? E - Environment: What are the constraints and limitations that will impact the solution and its realization? The CATWOE technique If any changes initiative, it is essential to investigate the perspectives of the different stakeholders. It is often the case that stakeholders have different standpoint / viewpoints about what the problems and opportunities, how best to tackle them. The CATWOE technique allows you to investigate each stakeholder’s viewpoints / perspective individually and capture this information. The information collated can then be used to help effectively manage the stakeholders, a key element of any changes. Example of CATWOE The CATWOE analyzes the process/ system and builds a holistic understanding that incorporates the different stakeholders viewpoints / perspective of the problem elements in order to integrate solutions that fit these elements. In this example, an bus transport service company explores the possibility of adding advertisement on their Bus. Based on the situation, a CATWOE checklist can be constructed as following: C- Customers: People who travel, advertising companies, marketing agencies A- Actors (A): Engineers, designers, employees, executive team, and shareholders T - Transformation : the bus display advertisements during the travel W - Weltanschhaung (World View) : Increase the bus transport service company profits to increase revenues O - Owner : the person who controls the system and can make the decision to implement the solutions E - Environmental Constraints : the regulations, laws, and culture CATWOE checklist that allows problem solvers to build a holistic approach for the process/ system and its elements from different stakeholder’s viewpoints / perspective. The important fact that should be considered when using the CATWOE checklist is that it provides understanding of the holistic process / system. CATWOE elements covers the all incorporated elements that affect the process / system, such as the consumer, the internal team, the problem, how the problem is seen, the decision maker, and the external factor related to the issue / problem.
  5. The 2x2 Matrix is a decision support technique tool where the team plots options on a two-by-two matrix. Matrix is helps team to determine which tasks to focus on, and in which order. This matrix also as a 4 blocker or magic quadrant, the matrix diagram is a simple square divided into 4 equal quadrants. Each axis represents a decision criterion, such as Impact or effort. Each axis is divided into two sections (example: high impact and low effort, high impact and high effort, low impact and low effort and high impact and low effort). Typically classify each box as follows: 1. Quick wins (high impact, low effort) 2. Major (high impact, high effort) 3. Fill-ins (low impact, low effort) 4. Thankless tasks (low impact, high effort) 2X2 Action priority matrix will look like the one shown below. 2X2 Matrix even just determining where to place each idea into the matrix will lead to new insights and clarity. Sometimes, this process is even more important than the final solution. The 2×2 Matrix is a helpful way to plot common understandings or agreements on a particular subject in order to make a decision. Benefits of using a prioritization matrix In this principle, the benefits of a prioritization matrix are straightforward. This matrix is support of structured decision-making, they make it easy to: 1. Break down and prioritize complex issues when there are multiple factors influencing the decision 2. Clearly rank your priorities 3. Determine very crucial focus areas 4. Establish a basis for discussion about what is important. This Matrix is prioritizing business tasks and is a basic yet reliable process for making sure dealing with to-do list in the most efficient manner possible. SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) Analysis is one of the best examples of the 2×2 Matrix. SWOT Analysis is useful in determining the abilities and disadvantages of a Product / business from an internal and external perspective.
  6. Hanedashi Hanedashi means for automatized unload of a work item from one process, or it is called an automatic part ejector device. Concept of Hanedashi Hanedashi concept is used as the means for automatized unloading of work part/item from one process or operation, providing the correct state for the next part/item to be loaded. A key component of Hanedashi device. Usually, the part/item loading of the machine at the beginning is manual. The ejection of the part from machine after the process is completed is automatic. When it is couple of Hanedashi principle equipped machines are placed in sequence, it is called chaku-chaku line which means “load-load”. Because of the auto discharge of the part/item, the operator can run several machines with little waste. Automatic Unloading ( Example ) Without a Hanedashi device, the operator would have to set down the new part/item that he would be carrying to the machine, pull out the completed part and set it down, pick up the new part, load it, and then pick up the completed part again. With Hanedashi Device, the operator will walk up to an empty machine, and would be able to immediately load the new part, pick up the completed part, and move on. What type of wastes can it address? Waiting: Example - Machine idle time reduce by using Hanedashi device (Unloading time). Inventory: Example - Buffer inventory between two machine / Process. Defects: Example - In a continuous flow system, the products go through the process individually and defects are found in time so that subsequent products can be corrected earlier in the process. Other Wastes …..
  7. Correlation and covariance are statistical concepts that are used to determine the relationship between two random variables. The Main difference is Covariance used to find direction of a linear relationship between two variables. Where, The Correlation is used for relationships between two variables and To assess the strength of a relationship between two variables. Covariance :- Covariance defines the relationship between 2 random variables and what extent two random item vary together. Covariance used to find direction of a linear relationship between two variables. But cannot use the covariance statistic to assess the strength of a linear relationship. - Both variables tend to increase or decrease reciprocally, the coefficient is positive. - one variable tends to increase as the other one declines, the coefficient is negative. Correlation :- Correlation it’s quantifies the relationship between two random variables and defines how a change in one variable will impact the other. Correlation is the most commonly used for process establishing the relationships between two variables, whether or not two variables are related, is to plot them on a “scatter plot” It measures the strength of the LINEAR association between two variables Will not measure strong NON LINER relationship DOES NOT measure cause and effect Can be used as 1st step to regression Should be used in conjunction with graphical techniques Measure of the strength of the linear association in a correlation analysis is “R” – Correlation coefficient. Correlation and Covariance - Example The monthly revenues from customer and response to advertisements are used as aggregate measure of effectiveness of business development function of a company. In Minitab : Stat >> Basic statistics >> correlation Correlation Result: R=0.997. So significant. Covariance Result: The covariance between Revenue and Adv. Response is 67.5856, which indicates that the relationship is positive
