Hi Seena, There is no direct linkage of the monetary benefits accruing out of a project to the mapping of Six Sigma tools. Sometimes there are project which do not yield direct financial benefits, like CSAT, process streamlining, etc.You can use the six sigma tools which really help your project. Yes, justification comes only in place where any tool used is not helping drive any conclusions. This should not be inferred as the tools is not useful, rather it is possible that methodology of the tool has not be been used appropriately. Kick start the project move ahead and look for tools as and when needed. Nirankar

Hi Sayali, As you are looking forward to setup the end to end process, you will need to address it through DFSS approch of six sigma. This approch is focused on design. High Level process of a DFSS project is as under: Identification of Problem Collection of VOC and put it on KANO model Use AHP and QFD to drill down to the CTQ elements Identify the platform through Pugh Matrix Perform Process FMEA Develop the control plan Develop the impementation and training plan. Hi Zaheer, As you want to do the project to control inventory and maxamize the efficiency, try to do the baselining first and need to have a strong busness case to present it to the champion. You need to ascertain the type of problem being faced and accordingly need to identify the Six sigma stratgey(Improvment/ Lean/DFSS) to be adopted. Then you need to define the problem and then develop the project charter, which would include Business Case, Problem Statement, GOal, Scope, Timelines and the project team. The next steps will follow the charter and then you can proceed to work on the project. Hope it helps you to initiate the project.

Hi Seena, When you talk about a phenomenon, I refer this to any change observed in a process. Hence without and change in external factors there could not be change in a ongoing process. Six Sigma could be refrred to as a project driving a specific change with defined timellines. You will have identify a common path for both the approches. For this you need ot have sound knowledge or SME support from both approch you are looking at. Reading your example, it can ben said that this process could be mapped on DMAIC process. For this you have to first listdown all the process activities and then identify the similar six sigma tools and techniques having similar process and output. Hope it helps... Nirankar

Arun, Six Sigma talks about the process improvements. Overall Process Improvement for any process is done by improving the performance of various components (SLA's) of the process. Each SLA has data to show the performance which measured against the targets provided by the client. Initally you have to look at the client staisfaction ofor the various process. If the client is satisfied then you can look forward to work on initiatives whoich could act as delighters to the client. However, if the SLA's have not been performing up to the required client standards then you could focus on the improvement. Hi Naresh, You are eligible for the Black Belt Training once you are a certified green belt. The time frame for a Black Belt trainign is 2 weeks appox. I you really want to have a Black Belt cetification done, I would recommend you to first identify the project as it would help you to understand the six sigma tolls better during the training. Hi Mayank, I had been in a similar real scenario earlier. First of all you need to identify the cause why you are capturing the time. If the purpose for some study then its ok and fine you can use any method. But if you nee dot get this implemented with entire operations then you need to focus on few critical aspects mentioned below: Why is this being implemented? How big is the size of operations where it is to be implemented? It is directly impcting Finance, Operations or both? The reason why I am asking to review is identify the need to do so. It might be possible we can find out other way to solve the problem.

Hi Venkatesan, First of all you have understood the problem well and it looks that there could be a good business case to persue it as a project. You need to start working on your Project Charter. It will help you to scope the project, which will help you to address the constraints mentioned above. As the charter addresses the following: Business Case Project Problem Project Goal Scope Team Members Financial Benefits Timelines for various phases & Project Metrics with baseline and targets Do not start to look forward to the six sigma model at this point in time, rather focus on step by step activity towards approchng the goal. Hi Shiva, In my opinion taking sample size on the sample of 25000 would not be appropriate you good results. In case of a C-SAT survey, there is a probability that the customers respond only 5-10%. As of now the number of sample you are reciving is mererly 200. It is not good to predict any thing on such small sample. PLease shre the data and trends for last three monhts then only it will be feasible to analyse it.
