Seven Approaches to Variation Reduction
No doubt that Inspection is a NVA but we all know that NVA can also be further categorized as avoidable & unavoidable. So where ever possible to avoid or reduce , it should be done otherwise we also know that in many cases like aerospace industry, it can not be eleiminated. So the debate over it will not yeild much insights. Regards sanjay bishnoi

Frequently Asked Interview Questions for MBBs_OLS Regression (Basics)
Hi everyone I would like to answer "What does VIF signify? Are high values of VIF desirable?" only for now. VIF stands for variation inflation factor. Its optional but advisable to check VIF option while doing MLR. VIF indicates the multicolearity among the factors/ predictors in the model. Higher the VIF value, higher is the correlation among Xs which is not a desirable state of affairs. Therefore higher VIF is not desirable. Normally Xs with VIF value higher than 4 needs to be checked and one of the two should be removed form the model. Decision as to which one to remove can be based on process knowledge & experience. What is the difference between R-sq, Adjusted R-Sq, and Predicted R-Sq? The difference in Rsqr & Rsqr -adj is nicely explained by Shalini. I would like to through some light on the difference btw Rsqr & Rsqr adj. If we add dummy factors (Xs) to the regression model then Rsqr may be increasing but Rsqr adj will not change. This is the reason why we refer to Rsqr adj value and not Rsqr. Regards sanjay bishnoi

Combining Mean & Std. Deviation Metrics
if these data sets are independent then the below two METRIC can be used. 1- First is sigma level (Z)which uses mean & stdev both together along with specifications 2- CV (coefficient of variation) can also be used which is stdev divided by the eman of the data set. Its preferably used to compare the variation of two processes when their means are significantly different. would like to be enlightened if further value additions are made by other members Regards SanjayBishnoi MBB-Mumbai

How To Calculate Sigma Level Of My Company
Dear friends , i would like to through light on the subject of sigma level calculations at orgnization or unit level. Please follow the following steps. 1. Identify the Business CTQs. i take example of a manufacturing unit. The four critical Business CTQs are Productivity, Cost, Quality and Customer complaints. 2. Decide KPIs for these KRAs and UoM . Like Productivity - Ton per day or Kg /hour etc ( Treat variable data) Cost - Rs / ton or Rs /Kg (treat variable data) Quality - Defective ubits vs total units produced in the period for which sigma level is being calculated (treat attribute data) Customer complaint - Total units supplied vs unist with complaints Use the scroll up sigma level template to calculate combined sigma level of all 04 parameters to get the UNIT level sigma level. This can be done on monthly , quarterly or yearlly basis or for any period. I do not see any problem with changing specifications bcos it will be taken care by defect defintions iself. If you need any more inputs on this topic then feel free to contact me here. I have enough experience to deal with sigma level calculations and i think i can try to calculate sigma level of any function, unit, organization. Regards sanjay MBB-Mumbai

Six Sigma Applicability
Every industry or enterprise consists of processes, Macro level process and Microm level processes. Every function in the organization consist of processes. This is true for manufacturing as well as non manufacturing industries. The whole concept of six sigma is centered on Process Approach, Y = f(x), and this is what makes Six Sigma applicabilty universal in nature. So fundamentally, six sigma is designed to handle all tuypes of processes. The difference lies in the way its applied and tools are used for different processes. Thanks Sanjay Bishnoi MBB-Mumbai

Refresher training for full time BB & MBB
1.Refresher training of minimum how many hours per year is required for a full time BB & MBB professional to keep his skills sharpend. 2. What are the skills required for an MBB to do justice to his role. These may be defined in terms of six sigma methodologies and soft skills as well. Are there some norms available on this.

What is the BEST way to deal with projects of repeatable nature
This topic is initiated with a purpose of seeking views of six sigma professionals on how to deal with projects of repeatable nature. Repeatable here means that there are business process parameters needing continuous improvement so 6sigma projects are launched repeatedly with new baseline & targets.
