February 16, 200917 yr This topic is initiated with a purpose of seeking views of six sigma professionals on how to deal with projects of repeatable nature. Repeatable here means that there are business process parameters needing continuous improvement so 6sigma projects are launched repeatedly with new baseline & targets.
February 17, 200917 yr Dear Sanjay,This is a very common issue that we come across in service industry, where you serve multiple clients within the same domain. For ex: Various telecom companies having similar problems like repeat call %, calls per subscriber and etc. And, the practice we follow is the we try and replicate the findings or improvements in one project done on telecom company A to telecom company B.However, we can certainly focus on improving our existing performance and moving ahead with better output but unless there is a special cause variation, doing another project by altering the baseline and targets is not the correct practice. I feel before launching another project with altered data, we need to look for special cause variations in the process which may be impacting the process from giving better results than what we had expected post completion of the project. Thanks,Vishwanath Singh
