Level of inspection for sampling
Hi Terry, In Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) that is used in Automotive and Aerospace, there is something referred to as Key Characteristics (KC). A Key Characteristic in Aerospace APQP is explained as follows - The answer to your question is as follows - All Key Characteristics for the part/item need to be inspected. You need to check with the customer if they expect control over Process KCs as well. If the answer is yes, they may also need to be added to your inspection plan. Hope this helps.

Is reliability and maintainability linked with Six Sigma.
Hi Ranjit, Any business problem is likely to have the opportunity to apply the DMAIC or the DMADV approach (or parts of it). As reliability and maintainability are highly linked with design, DMADV is where these are addressed. Design for manufacturability, Robust Design, Design for higher MTBF, Design for lower MTTR - these form important elements of DFSS projects. Equipment (or Part) Life Data is seen to be following Weibull distribution data many a time.

For me, if this is a highly repeated tendency, I will be sceptical as it is not just the company that chooses a candidate, it is also that the candidate who chooses a company. If it is not a highly repeated pattern, I agree with Rajesh.
