March 25, 200917 yr I am a software developer with 2.5 years of experience and will be promoted to module lead in some time... I had a conversation with my PM who suggested that GB will only be beneficial after I become a module lead. Kindly clarify.
March 25, 200917 yr Different companies have different criteria for GB approval. GB and PMP are two criteria widely required for someone to lead teams and projects in software industry. Benefits of Green Belt are three fold. 1. Understanding of important concepts of process, quality and defects - These are useful for everyone. 2. Application of Six Sigma techniques to resolve operational issues. These are applicable for everyone. 3. Carrying out DMAIC projects with team to address reasonable challenges. This is one application which may require a module lead designation in your company.

June 25, 200916 yr Dear Deepti, One may derive the benefits of Six Sigma by either Getting into Six Sigma Role - Here the job profile shall be cross-functional Six Sigma projects (some projects within functional areas) within the company. This type of role is handled by most Black Belts and few Green Belts.Utilizing Six Sigma for getting better results than before in the current profile - In the approach one would carry out Six Sigma projects while handling a functional role. This kind of role is with most Green Belts and few Black Belts.I hope I have answered your question. Do post your response if you have another question.

I would like to know if suppose I get the six sigma certification and my previous experience is into Software development, then how much will it help me in getting a job with a profile of Six Sigma Projects in some different companies. As my previous experience is in development and it does not help to enter to into quality related field ,thats why i want to know , how much this certification would help me getting a good job with this profile. Thanks & Regards,Deepti
June 27, 200916 yr There are several people who moved into full time Six Sigma roles after going through our training. Green Belt is the start of a journey and As you pursue Black Belt and MBB you can be a specialist in this field. You shall need to do projects along the way. To be more specific, you should be able to do Green Belt project at your current profile after attending the Green Belt training. Once you upgrade to Black Belt, you may be able to do some cross functional projects in your current company or with a future employer. Six Sigma projects in different companies shall be feasible once you develop multi-functional competence (and join a consulting organisation) To read success stories of our past participants in Information Technology and to see how they progressed over time, click here
