May 14, 201313 yr During the recent recession, many businesses have been forced to close their doors due to the problems of the economy, which seemingly cannot be helped as the outlook continues to look worse. However, the Six Sigma method allows companies to identify their problems, analyze them, and establish a process for coordinating with the leaders of the company to see what can be done to improve upon them in order to make better products faster. The DMAIC process helps you to look into every area very critically and have the highest standards of processes and structures. This eliminates wastes and errors to the bare minimum, ensuring that even the bad market can not have an impact on the organization as every aspect was designed very critically to the highest level of perfection.
May 15, 201313 yr The recession is indeed the time when a company's focus shifts towards going LEAN both in terms of people and processes... To survive, the company needs to identify the value chain and then make it efficient and lean by eliminating the NVA... However, if an organization adopts the LEAN approach as its philosophy, it will not only enable the company to survive the tough times but also ensure better profitability in the good times...
May 18, 201313 yr Totally Agreed !! Imagine we’re in recession and many organizations are looking at how to win more business and increase revenue. - However; what about reducing what goes out as waste? - Can’t it be just as beneficial as increasing what comes in? That’s why a lot of companies are now implementing Lean and Six Sigma management systems, and providing Lean Six Sigma training for their staff to tackle these situations.
May 19, 201313 yr Exactly.. The greatness of a legend is seen during the toughest of the times... same is the scenario with companies. It need not be a recession time, even during a normal time, the competitive industry expects everyone to be lean.. they need to cut the unnecessary wastes and make themselves a cost leader... even in a service industry, the much needed 'differentiator' could be derived from the six sigma analysis.
