January 2, 201313 yr Large number of professionals have found that the Industry they find themselves in, does not provide enough career opportunities to grow. How do they tackle this? Well, people who are in a General Management role think they can shift their sector more easily than others. HR and Marketing people can move widely within their domains if not across them. However, people with reasonable Lean Six Sigma Black Belt competence have moved across industries with relative ease. This happens because the desired Lean Six Sigma skill-set is very much the same across domains, and across functions. Here are six examples - Mr. Mohan PB - From Automotive Manufacturing to Services - Mr. Devendra - From Manufacturing to Airports Authority - http://forum.benchma...ndra-sharma-r42Lt. Col Shalini Agrawal - From Armed forces to banking, and then to IT, and from IT to Cargo - during this video she was with banking - http://forum.benchma...ini-agarwal-r20Amol Dixit - From Audits and Accounting to Six Sigma - http://forum.benchma.../amol-dixit-r72Himadri Sarkar - From Hotel to Telecom and now in Management consulting in US During this video, he was with Telecom - http://forum.benchma...adri-sarkar-r26Haresh Hiranandani - From BPO to Banking - His video link - http://forum.benchma...hindra-bank-r79
April 5, 201313 yr I completely agree with you sir. Being an MBA student, I feel that Six Sigma is the most industry-neutral training that anyone can undergo.Six Sigma concepts can be employed where ever there is a process, and that needs improvement. This gives a wide scope in all industries including Automobile, Telecom, IT, BPO/KPO, Education, Manufacturing, Service sector, etc..., hence, shift between these sectors is also viable.
May 8, 201313 yr The above links provide a good insight to the topic and encourages industry shift. People with vast experience in one domain may have a very good technical hold of their own domain but they have a good managerial experience and it can be applied to the other domains as well. By undergoing Six Sigma certifications, they can give a better structure to the new organization and help the organization grow.
May 13, 201313 yr In today's times, cross functional expertise is a must to climb the organizational ladder. The 3 main dimensions of Six Sigma namely Problem Solving, Data Driven Decision Making and Process Improvement find applicability in all business domains. This makes it easy for an individual to switch to different domains and deliver his best to each one of it.
