  1. The purpose for using Z scores because it allows leadership and Six Sigma professionals to compare disparate or very different processes; from office and business applications to manufacturing and service applications.
  2. I am not sure process FMEA is the right question as applied to a Lean Six Sigma DMAIC project. If it was reworded as FMEA as applied... then I would say three FMEAs: - perform a design FMEA to address what can go wrong with the potential solution. - perform a process FMEA to address what can go wrong with the process steps. - perform an application FMEA to address how the customer or user of the product or process can use it incorrectly.
  3. Let's say that Y = gas mileage. One factor X is drivers of cars. We find there's a statistical difference between drivers. But, we aren't going to change drivers. This factor X is a noise factor and can't be changed.
  4. Attribute Agreement Analysis - Evaluation of agreements within and between appraisers and to reference standards - evaluation between final inspection of supplier and receiving inspection of customer - determine if appraiser is capable of inspecting the part or process; use AAA as part of hiring process or to move a person out of the job
  5. Determine the process capability (Cp, Cpk), defects per million (DPM), and/or Z value of the normal distribution to the acceptable specification limits.
