Kindly let me know the application of Six Sigma in Supply Chain, I'm working in a pharmaceutical company and I'm into Supply Chain

 

In Pharmaceutical sector, the supply chain focus is on environmentally and socially responsible business practices.

The last principle on this page states - Companies believe that the Supply Chain Principles are best implemented through a continual improvement approach that advances supplier performance over time.

It is exactly in implementation of this principle that Six Sigma has a role to play. Six Sigma is world best roadmap for continual improvement.

 

 

I don't have pharma exposure but I think many tools of Lean have application in SCM.

 

1.Just In Time, Which is most preferable for perishable products.

2.Pull System

3. Decision making tools like TOPSIS / Pugh Matrix can be used to select the best vendor  

 

Projects like 

1. Reduction of supply lead time without increasing warehouses.

2. Reduce transportation cost without increasing supply lead time (Wherever trade off situation comes go for TRIZ (Theory of inventive Problem Solving))   

 

Supply Chain and Six Sigma are closely related to each other.

To define project scope SIPOC is used if I am not wrong it is a supply chain of that process under study
