December 21, 201015 yr what is the logocal method to decide process optimization target (in % improvement)?
December 24, 201015 yr Hello Himanshu, You can use Benchmarking to decide process optimization targets. Internal benchmarking may not always give you the best targets. Competitive benchmarking or cross industry benchmarking shall provide you better options. Best Regards, VK
December 24, 201015 yr If you don't find any Competitive benchmarking or cross industry benchmarking data, then you should start going beyond your own previous achievement/record and study the MUDA,MURA and MURI in the process and eliminate or reduce them to Improve the process.Dr.R.V.Jayathirtha.
December 25, 201015 yr Yes, I agree with Dr. RVJ. In the begining of a Six Sigma project, you need to set challenging goals (which you may be unsure of). As you learn more from your process, your project goals can be revised upwards or downwards. Most initial Six Sigma projects should be low risk. As a company gets more confidence on the methodology, you can work with projects taht have more challenging (higher risk of failure) goals. Generally speaking - All Six Sigma DMAIC projects shall have an element of risk (probability of failure) as the causes and solutions are unknown when you begin. Best Regards, VK
December 25, 201015 yr Author Thanks for your great input. Is there any source available to know benchmarking data of different process. Regards,Himanshu Sharma
