October 6, 20223 yr In simple terms, COE speaks about Issue, Time lines, Impact, Stakeholders involved, Defect trend, RCA, Current Control/Preventive Mechanism, Recommendations/Suggestions to control, Feedback session between stakeholders on lesson Learned, Audit to check re-occurence of same defect or incident. CAPA also speaks about Issue, Effect, RCA, Corrective & Preventive Action. Is there any significant difference between COE & CAPA or I missed out any for CAPA ? If so, which is a better one in case of defect handling ? I bet on COE, which can be better documented and referred in case of repeat occurence ( Please correct me if I'm wrong )
October 7, 20223 yr Solution Both appear to be same. Purely going by the name, Correction of Error seems to be focused more on Corrective Action. Whereas in CAPA, we first take the Corrective Action then also focus on preventive action so that the error does not re-occur. Important thing - post corrective action, always think about preventive actions.
October 7, 20223 yr Yes, Correction of Errors and CAPA seem to be the same. CAPA specifically is implemented differently by different companies. Some do it very well, some for namesake. The intent is to take corrective action and prevent recurrence in both approaches. If you are looking for another robust method (other than DMAIC), look at the 8D problem-solving sequence below.
