Data scientist are good with data analysis, tools and techniques, however they always need business managers to help them with domain knowledge.

There could be few things which can be done for creating synergies between the two.

1. Business Managers should go through high level training on various tools used in data science. This will help business managers to understand challenges data analyst is facing.

2. Data analyst should have regular governance meetings to update business managers on progress so that analyst can do course correction if required.

3. Model created though may learn automatically through additional data but analyst should constantly keep checking accuracy of model and see if any parameter changes the dynamics with consultation.

 

Many have tried combining the roles, like business managers getting trained on coding and in my experience it doesn't work.
