April 18, 200917 yr Instead of listing what can be done with Six Sigma, it seems it is better to list what cannot be done with it. Six Sigma can not solve problems such asPoor leadershipFailing business strategyFinancial restructuringCreation of business modelThese problems need to be dealt separately (before deployment of Six Sigma) I look forward to your views and comments on this topic.
April 21, 200917 yr Hi Vishwadeep, in addition to the list I would like to add that Six Sigma cannot. cannot reduce invested capitalcannot dramatically improve process speed
April 23, 200917 yr Hi Shreshta, You aptly mentioned that Six Sigma cannot reduce capital already invested in business & improve process speed. However with due respect to your perspective, deployment of Six Sigma in the existing business can certainly reduce the capital to be invested in future for it's expansion (or any other reason), as foreseen before its deployment. This is in addition to the increase in ROI (Return on Investment). Also, when we talk about improving process speed or consequently reducing the process time we talk essentially about performing only value added activities (of course, certain NVAs are unavoidable) & reducing waste, which is Lean manufacturing / management. Lean deployment precedes Six sigma in any process. In other words, a process / organisation has to be lean (managed) first, before embarking on a Six Sigma platform. Thnx & rgds.
