April 9, 201016 yr Hello all... My friend and I are working together on a Research on Implementation of Six Sigma in Organized Retail. We would like some help to find out the areas it is implemented in retail sector, the ways of implementing it If some one from the retail sector can come forward and help us it would be great. Thanks. Anup
April 24, 201016 yr Dear Anup, We have worked with some retail organizations. As per our experience, good improvement projects are feasible in most processes in Retail industry includinginventory managementwaste reduction & waste managementstock replenishmentbarcoding effectivenesstransportation efficiencyrepacking effectivenessmanaging returnsturnaround times in queuesconsumer satisfaction enhancement, etc.To begin with, you need to identify the important pain areas experienced by management (or customers) in your company. Let me know about more so that we can take this forward. Regards, VK

September 2, 201015 yr Hi everybody,I just completed a GB and am eager to do a project in the organised retail sector. I am going to apply to a leading player but before that I need to identify a couple of projects so i can leverage from what i have learnt in six sigma. Slightly OFFTOPIC: To my great suprise , in my last job with the hospitality industry , i was able to put in place a process for procurements , inventory mangement and logistics and was able to reduce the cost for both through forecasting wihout having undergone any formal training in Six sigma. I analysed the process , used information from reservations and made consumption of goods perishables and other consumables measurable and hence was able to control costs. Now im looking for a similar project in retail where it would be possible to forecast to reduce inventory costs. But since it is very difficult to predict the buying behaviour pattern of individuals across the spectrum of retail , this is a very challenging prospect. Looking forward to some replies that can help identify some CTQ's in retail that can be measured and controlled by identifying critical X's
August 3, 20178 yr Hello, I am sure that you have already read what VK posted before your question, but still quoting it here: On 4/24/2010 at 7:05 PM, Vishwadeep Khatri said: We have worked with some retail organizations. The processes listed above will have very clear CTQs and are good candidates for projects depending on where the business challenge lies.
