  1. Hello M K Somanathan, It might be the reason If a pilot lands air craft within 50% of the run way then that might cause only 3.4 accidents per million landing. As we know 3.4 DPMO is achieved at six sigma quality, We have to look at the technical specifications of safely landing the aircraft. How closely the pilot meet those specification every time, that indicates his sigma level. Here I considered that only impacting factor is runway. USL=55% length of Run Way (Beyond that for sure all will go to heaven) Lower the safer landing, Say less than 50% With Mean of 40% and Std. Deviation of 0.033333333 You get Zst=6 and DPMO=3.4
  2. I don't have pharma exposure but I think many tools of Lean have application in SCM. 1.Just In Time, Which is most preferable for perishable products. 2.Pull System 3. Decision making tools like TOPSIS / Pugh Matrix can be used to select the best vendor Projects like 1. Reduction of supply lead time without increasing warehouses. 2. Reduce transportation cost without increasing supply lead time (Wherever trade off situation comes go for TRIZ (Theory of inventive Problem Solving)) Supply Chain and Six Sigma are closely related to each other. To define project scope SIPOC is used if I am not wrong it is a supply chain of that process under study
  3. From process Cp and Cpk value it is clear that process has variation as well as not centered. Cp at least should be equal to 1.67 and Cpk 1.33 for good process. Cp is about variation while. Cpk is about variation and process mean. Look for achieving Cpk >1.33 for the process. For more details provide data set.
  4. Hello, If Project is not possible then you can do study oriented research in six sigma. Go through different research papers to get the direction for your white paper. This will be a more strong point for your resume than a project.
