Doubt About Hypothesis Test
Thanks for your post, Amit. Yes, my team is doing the same process. Aside to Ashok: Point 1: Output of step "Interview is completed and is ready to be saved as a complete" is not the input for the next step is cus this steps is in its own entirety. And, the next steps are in continuation Point 2: Agree with your point, the supervisor should not be the input and I will put the input as work process. Thanks for pointing it out. Point 3: I havent used SIPOC to understand the importance of every step w.r.t VOC as yet - Rahul

What Is The Difference Between Six Sigma And ISO 9001?
Well the QC manager is right but only to an extent. In a sense that a company in a nascent stage would not like to invest money in training people on Six Sigma. But it also depends which training partner it chooses as different centers have different fee model ranging from 8000 per head to 30000 per head. Such is the difference in cost. Six Sigma is an extremely successful tool in industries like manufacturing and construction. The very essence lies in the fact that using Six Sigma techniques cost can be reduced drastically thereby leveraging the profits. The same impact would be slightly difficult to register in a service industry. For e.g to show how much impact in terms of money or profit is made by reducing the turnaround time of a pizza joint. In industries like construction, everything you do will be associated with a cost so you job will be much easier to show the importance of Six Sigma. Being said, application of Six Sigma also lies in the fact the work culture of the company, receptivity of the senior management and few other factors. However, you don't need to be formally trained on Six Sigma to reap its benefits. You can start small by picking some of the easy to understand techniques like 5 Why's, Cause & Effect and apply them in day to day situations. Pretty long read but I hope it helps. Regards, Rahul

What Is The Difference Between Six Sigma And ISO 9001?
Anwar, ISO talks about standardization of processes and procedures in different department of an organization. Example a company may be carrying out different functions like marketing, production to name a few. Now what ISO does is take different functions and apply one standard across all verticals so that the company follows a standardized procedure for carrying out different activities. ISO is also used as a brand building tool to attract new customers as it puts a company in good ground given the fact that they are ISO certified. Coming to Six Sigma, it is basically a process where you can resolve a recuring issue with the help of statistics and other principles. Hope that helps but do let me know if you need any other help. Take care, Rahul

Doubt About Hypothesis Test
Ashok, I am attaching the SIPOC with this post. I am arriving at the defect % by taking an average of the all the errors made by the entire team after taking into count all the calls monitored by the quality team. Thanks for the Minitab suggestion, I thought of it earlier and in case it doesnt work by clearing the registry then I can always use it on a new system with a different emai. SIPOC Diagram.xls As always, thanks much for your precious guidance and I look forward to hearing from you again. Regards, Rahul

Doubt About Hypothesis Test
Thanks for your reply, Ashok. My project is focused on reducing the defect % of the quality in my process. That is how I wish to quantify the pre and post project results. About all the fact that a hypothesis can be done on all the factors stated above...is it advisable to conduct the same on all the factors?? Also, if you could please guide me on how to conduct the test since the trial version on Minitab expired on my system? Is there any other option available online for free? I concur with your point that a 5 Why analysis will narrow down the responsible factors. Regards, Rahul

Doubt About Hypothesis Test
Friends, I was wondering which theory I should be using while carrying out the Hypothesis testing? I am doing a Quality Improvement project and the results that have been accrued from the 5 Why's and other tests are basically: Trainees performance is poor Training and Quality teams are over occupied Team is less motivated and a few other findings are there Which assumption should I take while conducting the hypothesis test?? Thanks in advance for your inputs. Regards, Rahul

An Ideal Format For A Green Belt Project
Hi All, I am starting my Six Sigma Green Belt project and I am done with the Define phase and have created the Project Charter in MS Word. I was wondering what should be the ideal format...should it primarily be Excel, Word, PPT or combination of both for the entire project. The project that I have undertaken is to improve the quality process. Any suggestion(s)/ feedback would be highly appreciated. Thank you, Rahul
