Can we consider automization of processes as a valid approach during a Six Sigma Green Belt Project? Let us assume that we came to know about the need for automatization in the improve phase after having found the root cause.

 

You mean "AUTOMATION"

 

Yes. Automating a process also can be considered as part of a Green Belt Project.

 

However, the reason for automation must be clear.

 

It should be justified properly by a study of the current (non-automated) process and pointing out the limitations in increasing the process capability and reasoning out how automation can eliminate those limitations.

 

 

 

Instead of overcoming the root causes in Primary CTQ, you reduce the time/money by doing the AUTOMATION of Secondary CTQ.

Will that be also considered as Six Sigma Project?

Let us assume that during the six sigma project, you realized that the primary CTQ could not be impacted. At this stage, you may revise your charter and present for necessary approvals.

 

If management agrees that the original secondary CTQ should now be considered as primary and Six Sigma DMAIC is a valid methodology for the new charter, it is ok to go ahead. You may have to revisit each phase and may need to look at it as an entirely new project. This may be needed as - certain activities for the old secondary CTQ may not have been done earlier (for example - baseline performance or sigma level of secondary CTQ)

           This is Ravi Sankar. I am working as a Lecturer in Statistics since from the past 9 years. Now i am doing this Six sigma green belt certification course. Now my question is where can i find Six sigma green belt project? Is there any body to provide me a green belt project? because my current work place is not at all suitable to do green belt project why because no body in the management level knows the fruitful ness of green belt.

           So please help me in providing me the green belt project or atlease give me the source that where i can find the projects.
