I have joined Benchmark today. I am novice as far as Six Sigma is concerned.I am keen to learn application of Six sigma in  shipping business;to be specific(stevedoring,CHA and draft survey)

Six Sigma example projects in shipping
 

1. Improved handling of hazardous materials
2. Reducing Loading and Unloading Turn Around Time including container arrivals, unloading by crane, loading into the ship.
3. Improving the CHA processes including the following
4. Accuracy and turn around time improvement in preparation of various kinds of bill of entry and shipping bill.
5. Eliminating errors in tariff classification and rates of duty.
6. Ensuring first time right in nature and description of documents to be filed with various kinds of bills of entry and shipping bill.
7. Ensuring first time right in procedures for assessment and payment of duty.

I will be joining this industry but as an outsider whatever info. i have gathered from my father and brother, who are both veterans,all these projects would make a great impact since they are all cause of concern as of now.Looking forward to your GB training in Ahmedabad

1. Timeliness of delivery
2. Safety of material
3. Correctness of delivery (as per requirements and documentation).
