Process Improvement

Featured Replies

I recently joined a manufacturing company that follows the DMAIC methodology. As a QA professional, I’ve been asked by management to help improve the process. From your experience, where should I begin?

Hello Tapati

Starting point would be identify the pain areas or the gaps or metrics that are missing the targets in the process.

- use tools like VOC: see if there are any customer complaints

- use VOB: see if there are any aspirational targets set by the HOD or Process Owners

- look at the process dashboard to see if metrics are in danger

- do a walkthrough of the process to identify bottlenecks and/or wastes

Hi Tapati,

I think starting point should be the data collection of the QA and QC, checking whether one source of truth for data is there or not?

Also, some of the priority action points/inputs can come from the Internal Audit and Statutory Audit observation which will need your and your team member attention, actions.

Hope the above inputs will help you.

Thank You!
