October 6, 201312 yr Hello, I'm analyzing huge outlook PST files to understand email patterns for few employees. Current data set has 30 min interval wise- emails sent/received for entire year. Please suggest a best chart to analyze the data. I would like to confirm if the data type should be considered as continuous or discrete. Since emails can be counted, I was thinking it as discrete data but at the same time I, also think it as continuous data. Please help me. Thanks
August 9, 20178 yr Hello Vamshi, If the intent was to just look at the pattern of "number of email" per 30 min interval, you could use a bar chart, with the intervals on the X axis and count or frequency on Y axis. Count of email is discrete or categorical data. However, if it can assume more than 10 different values, you may "treat" it as continuous data.
