April 11, 201115 yr I have a project in which the cycle time is at 192 hrs. The specification is 48hrs. I beleive that it is a mean shift project. How do I calculate the post and pre sigma level for the project. Thanks in advance
April 14, 201115 yr Get a sample size of 30 to 100 with different settings on the basis of time, shift, days, weeks etc and find out the DPMO out of your first level data-recordings and apply the appropriate formula or use sigma level calculator. Same procedure, after the improvement.Caution: If you have empirical data of similar observations available before you've started your project, then use this data first in the 'Define phase' itself, so as to validate MSA, Capability Analysis as well as sigma-level. Yet do your own Measure-phase calculation newly derived sample and data observed. With thanks,RK
April 16, 201115 yr Hi Nitin, Considering continuous data, if 48 hours is your upper specification limit , average cycle time is 192 hours and you have tested the normality, you shall be getting a negative sigma level, which is ok. Shifting the mean shall improve the sigme level. Let me know if you have further questions. Regards, VK
