Can I pursue 6 sigma

Featured Replies

I am an Economics honours graduate from Calcutta University. Now i want to pursue post graduation in Economics as well.Is 6-sigma the right course for me?Is it possible to pursue 6-sigma along with post graduation and will it help me in getting a good job in the field of Economics?

Hello Oyindrila,

6-sigma is a business improvement methodology which is applicable across varied industries and functions therefore graduates from all disciplines are eligible to take a Six Sigma Certification.

As a student with Economics background your job prospects would primarily lie in industries like Banking & Financial Services, Consulting, Financial News Media etc. and all these industries have wide ranging applications of Six Sigma.

Also , it is not just possible but preferable to take your 6-sigma qualification while studying as this equips you with knowledge and skills which you can straight away implement when you enter an organization, after the completion of your post graduate degree. We also offer special discounts for students. A training right now would not only help in giving a positive start to your career but will also put it in a high growth zone.

Hello:

I am also interested in pursuing 6-sigma certification but does not know where and how to start. I work in a French MNC and I handle the payroll (75% time) and Receivables (25%). I want to know whether six sigma certification would help in my career growth and can someone provide the education provider in and around Gurgaon / Delhi ?

Thanks in advance.

Srinivas

How does one get training for 6-sigma ? what is the procedure and other terms and conditions ? can it be learnt on line ?

I am an full-time MBA student, and I wish to take up the 6-sigma certification. I am in Madurai and I prefer to take up the classes online. Does Benchmark Six Sigma offer this tutorial online? if not suggest some idea.

Hi Ramya,

A 6 sigma (SS) certification along with a MBA qualification fits just right for enhancing one's future professional/career opportunities.

SS online training does offer one the advantage of learning & certification (by examination) per time & convenience, but has the following drawbacks compared to a proper classroom training session:-

1) Actual live interaction between trainer & trainee/student is missing in an oline training session in SS, unlike a classroom session.

2) You have a large spread of other students/trainees from similar & diverse background in a classroom session sharing their academic & work experiences & insights, which makes the learning more informative & interactive with practical emphasis, unlike online training in SS.

3) A classroom training session gives you a good platform for interacting with other trainees, thus giving you an opportunity for developing useful contacts which can be fruitful in your future professional/career journey.

4) Since a classroom training session on SS completing the entire curriculum does not last for more than a week, you are in a process of learning the subject matter (SS) continuously in rhythm, without any break which facilitates better understanding & absorption, unlike a online session wherein, frequent breaks in learning can generally lead to lethargy & render learning difficult or at times even ineffective.

If you still choose to go in for online training in SS, it would be my suggestion to go for it as an additional certification from another institution which offers one, after you complete your learning & certification on the same under formal classroom coaching first. It's something like studying & getting certified in the same subject from two different institutions. However, recognition of the institution in the industry & job market from where you plan to do your SS course & certification is what matters here.

Rgds & best wishes.

Dear Srinivas

I thought I must tell you that 6-sigma training is undeniably important and conducive to your job profile.

Using its techniques, you can reduce lead time, increase efficiency and effectiveness of operations of reporting, accounting and delivery.

Secondly, Six Sigma training and methods are applicable to all industries and companies irrespective of their size.

The leading Six Sigma Training provider in India is Benchmark Six Sigma (www.benchmarksixsigma.com)

According to my knowledge, this happens to be the first and only Exemplar Global (Previously RABQSA) certified training provider in India. Headquartered in Noida, It gives training in over 10 Indian Cities. Their upcoming GB session will be from 17th to 20th Feb at India Habitat Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi.

I hope this information was of some use to you.
You may revert for more details.

All the best!
AbhishekM

Dear Sunita

While the journey of Six Sigma begins from yellow belt at some places, at Benchmark Six Sigma, their Green Belt (GB) programme gives you all benefits and covers all topics of yellow belt too. Basically, each advanced belt is a deeper understanding of all concepts learned in the previous belt. The basic training you have done in IBM will probably help you better and quicker understand the fundamentals and tools of Six Sigma.

On clearing the GB at Benchmark Six Sigma, you are awarded a certfication from Benchmark and Exemplar Global (Previously RABQSA), the apex certifying body from which Only Benchmark Six Sigma is recognised and certified in India.

Please revert for any other information.

Dear Dr. Nikisha,

Yes, you can complete Six Sigma Training & Certification while pursuing your regular studies.

Project is not mandatory for Green Belt Certification. Also you are provided with a dummy project to work upon during the Training, which helps you understand & grasp Six Sigma concepts easily.
