Dear Bhandari I mean offline means it can be finishing of the process partly or fully. So if discovered some problem after finishing of a part of the process and you can set right it then you are inspecting the particular material at that point and initiating action to set right. Any action which is done to set right at the process stage at the time of commencing can be called as online (the process is not finished not yet). Again it depends according to the industry. The online and offline has more broader derivations as per situation and the kind of industry, at last the final is to have less wastage. And should not be taken the above explanation is to controll the waste. i have only given the explanation connecting to it.

Dear All While explaining the AQL the inpected defects can be measurable one or can be some times visual combining of different opinions from person to person. And also most of the times the accepted AQL between supplier and customer is in practice if both are not the producers of item which will directly go into the market. If the particular company is producing an item or an accessory which will directly effect its appearance and its taste in the market then maintaining the acceptable standard also become difficult honestly.

Dear All As defined by Mr.Bhandari it is right and also I wanted to add some thing to elaborate it. Inspection is the process which is done to find out the kind and number of deviations occurring to the product(s) comparing with respective to the master sample or with the specified specifications. Some times inspection is also done to rectify the deviation which is done on line or off line. Where as sampling plan generally carried out after the process or offline whether to accept or reject the lot comparing with the defined limits.

Dear All I agree with lot of aspects which have been told inside to out side and out side to inside and also one should take into consideration the companies which practice the six sigma concepts are corporates and some other professional companies. But if the concept is to reduce cost with the process then the companies have other tools such as the tax system and other polishing concepts which are tested tools with large number of companies, and for this the law governing system also responsible.
