Participant Interview - Sumit Chakraborty, Moser Baer

Vishwadeep Khatri from Benchmark Six Sigma recently interviewed Sumit Chakraborty who is an Assistant Manager - Business Excellence at Moser Baer to find out how Six Sigma training has been shaping his career.

BSS : Sumit, can you share with us details of your career journey?

Sumit Chakraborty: I joined in production as a Mechanical Engineer. Later, I moved into engineering group. Business Excellence was launched in 2005 at Moser Baer. Few people were selected from various functions. I am now a part of this group. It has really been a good journey.

BSS: You have undergone Black Belt training from Benchmark. How was your experience?

Sumit Chakraborty: I have undergone Black Belt program from Benchmark. I have benefited a lot.

BSS: Which Six Sigma tools have you applied more often?

Sumit Chakraborty: We are using most of the tools covered in Benchmark training. I have been making use of Correlation, Regression, DOE, and RSM most frequently.

BSS: How is Six Sigma shaping your career?

Sumit Chakraborty: Due to Black Belt, we are using more rigour. It has provided a good platform to showcase to projects senior management. Six Sigma has been a differentiator that has led me to important roles which I would have missed otherwise.

BSS:- What career direction do you see for yourself in the coming period?

Sumit Chakraborty: Lean has been initiated recently. I am progressing well with this journey.

BSS: Do you have any improvement suggestion for Benchmark Six Sigma?

Sumit Chakraborty: I would suggest additional sector specific case studies should be added.
