October 25, 200916 yr Hi Everyone,I would like your views on the relevance of Six Sigma in today's global context. Has Six Sigma finally come of age where it is viewed on a more corporate platform for business edge, competancy and excellence, or is it still largely seen as a program confined to quality departments of the manufacturing sector? Is it a program for Quality Engineers or has it moved on to also becoming an undeniable skill set for an MBA?
October 29, 200916 yr Hello Faisal,Here it is good topic to discuss about. As i come across many organizations where they undertaken the six sigma as a platform for their business and these organizations are really working on it by training their employees on six sigma concepts where this program is not meant for only Quality departments. The main motive behind this is that if every employee is aware of these concepts the organizations will have better control from the initial stage itself.
October 30, 200916 yr Author So, as I see it, corporates are recognizing the edge that programs like Six Sigma & Lean provide their companies to stay ahead, stay competitive and stay profitable. Also, we keep hearing about banks and the private sector lapping up BBs and MBBs, and putting them up at key decision positions. BBs & MBBs bring with them crucial cross functional experience, and the skill to take profitable decisions based on solid research and data. Also, the fact that six sigma professionals are data driven, and have a sound analytical foundation makes they key resources with organizations. But here's another question: Does the actual six sigma DMAIC or DMADV program per se suffer a back seat when BBs & MBBs grow on to a more decision taking role than being more of a change agent with organizations?
