Would anyone be able to help me identify areas where six sigma (in any form) can be used in clinical trials? Managing clinical trial operations is becoming challenging as we see more and more clinical trials coming to India, however we are still relaying a lot on the excel sheets to manage the entire operations. Sounds humorous, but true! Though there are some tools (oracle based) which have been of help, but these fail to cater to new thoughts and ideas where we might want to scrap a redundant process and/or create new ways of doing things.

The answer I have got while interacting with people with some background of six sigma training has been very vague and lack clarity for me to break them down and see direct impact on the betterment of the project.

You need to have some dedicated Statistical package software like Minitab first to quickly use your data for analysis and store in the project format itself. You have what is called Quality companion along with Minitab. You have to invest on that. If you are comfortable only with Excel still you have dedicated softwares Sigma XL etc....
