BSS: Tell me briefly about your career Journey so far.
AS: I Started as a Sales Representative for one of leading Pharmaceutical company. Having worked for around two years, I moved as a Customer Care Executive for a leading BPO. after joining the ITeS sector I have consistently progressed YoY and now I am at level of Associate Vice President within a span of 8 years . Having worked with some of the big Technology players like Infosys and Wipro I have gained extensive exposure into various facets of the IT & ITeS Business Process life cycle.
BSS: Can you mention in one line, the impact of Six Sigma on your career?
AS: Six Sigma certification has been the underpinning element of my success as a Quality Professional
BSS: How do you apply Six Sigma skills in your current job at EXL? Please elaborate.
AS: I function as a Master Black Belt at EXL and my role involves extensive application of Six Sigma in our day to day activities. The timelines of the projects have been missed sometimes but the goals have always been overachieved by effective use of Six Sigma methodology. As a result we live in a more stable and predictable Operational environment.
BSS: Some Six Sigma tools you commonly use?
AS: Test of Hypothesis is one of the tools that come very handy to prove an assumption and take data based decisions.
BSS: How would you describe your experience at Benchmark?
AS: It has been one of the most enriching & fulfilling experience from a learning standpoint.
BSS: What sort of SS Projects have you working on in past? Kindly mention some.
AS: Some of the projects that I have worked on and received accolades on are:
• Improving Customer Satisfaction in Airline Reservation process
• Reduce cost of Retention in an Insurance process
• Improve Speed Pays in a Collection Process
Some of these projects are Customer centric while others Business centric but all of them have delivered significant benefits to the Business.
BSS: Do you think anybody if willing, can learn Six Sigma? Or it is only meant for academically brilliant people?
AS: I say anyone with an analytical bend can do well as a Six Sigma practitioner. Success is often independent of academic accomplishments
BSS: Would you like to give any suggestions to us for improving our program?
AS: You can have more case studies and research work to elucidate the application of Six Sigma methodology
BSS: Would you like to tell us about your future plans? How will your Six Sigma learning benefit you?
AS: In near future, I plan to take up SAS certification. Gradually once I am deeply acquainted with the concepts and application, I would like to get into Six Sigma consulting.
BSS: Would you like to give any message for readers.
AS: Let's keep it simple: Pursue and Keep pursuing Six Sigma. It's fast, neverending and everlasting !
