What’s Next on the Horizon for Process Excellence?

Process ExcellenceProcess excellence evolution can be grouped into two categories: the discipline and the application of the discipline.

Excellence Discipline

The discipline evolves itself continuously.

The introduction of Improvement Kata is a recent example discipline evolution. It is believed that the application of Process Excellence will impact the future of the industry the most. The upcoming generation of Process Excellence is not about being rigid. The standards, techniques, and strategies will be the highlights of the next generation of Process

Excellence application.

With the application of Process Excellence in pioneering ways, along with incorporation of next generation disciplines, umpteen opportunities will emerge to realize differentiation. This could be realized when Process Excellence and other fields and functions are in rhythm. It is believed that the Lean Management principles are all adopted and fake; but this is far from true. The Lean Management principles proves to be great help to achieve process excellence.

What is not the next generation about?

The evolution is not about propositions that advocate all-or-nothing. They are also not zero-sum game. Many leaders believe in adopting the proven methods only (that is one of the major reason why shift is difficult). Neither is the coming wave about theories of conventional vs lean.

It is about application.

To make the application of Lean management in next generation possible there must be a continuous focus on the inter-relationship between relevance and integration. The power and value of Process Excellence sometimes turns out to be the most effective way to take the organization’s attention on point adoption or systematic cultural change. Process Excellence can be affected by business trends; therefore, Process Excellence must be integrated throughout the enterprise.
