Introduction to Six Sigma
Six Sigma is a disciplined, data-driven approach/methodology for
improving productivity and profitability in any process -- from
manufacturing to transactional and from product to service. Six Sigma is
one of the most potent strategies ever developed to accelerate
improvements in processes, products, and services, and to radically
reduce process costs and improve quality. It achieves this by
relentlessly focusing on reducing defects and variations and meeting
customer satisfaction. Leading companies are applying this bottom-line
enhancing strategy to every function in their organizations -- from
design and engineering to manufacturing to sales and marketing to supply
management, for improvements traceable to business results.
Companies such as Motorola, GE, ABB,
Honeywell (Allied Signal), Sony have achieved phenomenal results by
adopting this business strategy. Adopting this business strategy, they
along with others have added billions of dollars to their bottomline.
Many organisations in India- Reliance, Wipro, Infosys, Satyam, TVS to
name a few, have achieved phenomenal success by implementing Six Sigma.

Balanced
Scorecard Executive Overview
Introduction to Balanced Scorecard
Balanced Scorecard is a Management
System that allows firms to clarify their ideas and policies and put
them into action. It offers feedback about both the internal business
processes and the external outcomes to enhance strategic performance and
outputs. The Balanced Scorecard shifts strategic planning from an
academic practice into the nerve centre of an organization.
The balanced scorecard offers an
inter- Linked model for estimating performance and centers around four
separate areas- finance, customer, internal processes, and innovation
and learning, each of them stated in terms of the company's goals, work
measures, targets, and initiatives, and all are harnessed to implement
corporate vision and policies. The whole idea behind the scorecard is
that you should communicate your strategy to the mass of employees
because, if only the executive level understands the strategy, it'll
never be executed. The scorecard process initiates with the management
team working together on translating the company's business policies
into sharp strategic objectives. It also maintains the balance between
the long term and short term aims of the organization, between the
financial and non- financial measures, between developing and leading
indicators and between external and internal task perspectives.
